Fragmentation (Lecture)
When I read the definition of Fragmentation it made me think of how politicians tend to have this practice. In fragmentation meanings change depending on the circumstances or issues at hand. This is also possible withing an organization. It can work in a positive or negative manner. I keep thinking of a time when I volunteered for a political campaign ; and I think this would be the kind of setting where people would have to practice the fragmentation ideals. You have to be flexible with what is going on in the campaign and many times there are several issues you have to look at before you can make a decision, but these are all factors.

I think fragmentation has a very real spot in every organization. As professor Coopman states in her web lecture: "Organizational cultures are characterized by inconsistency, paradox, and contradiction." Although one would think that there must be some common views, beliefs, and goals in an organization otherwise I don't see how a company would get anything done, there is no way to prevent ambiguity in any organization because people are mostly going to interpret symbols, ideology, and actions in a slightly different way.
ReplyDeleteFragmentation says changing depending on the circumstances, i beleive that takes place throughout an organization. Fragmentation is very important for the susscess within in a company.Their are people throughout organization that stand for a certain fragmentation and that makes things run easier. Overall if the goals and ideas arnt beling thrown around then fragmentation defientley wont meet its potential.
